Alpha Ecosystem Tannat Vrachos, 14.5%, 0.75 L

Classification – dry red wine, PGI Florina.

Grape variety – Tannat 100%.

Vineyard – single block “Vrachos”, 4.52 ha, on the Amyndeon plateau at 660 m, with northwestern exposure toward Mount Voras. Alluvial, sandy and sandy-clay soils over limestone provide excellent drainage.

Vinification – destemming, light crushing and cold soak under controlled conditions, followed by alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts isolated from the vineyard and regular pigeage. The wine remains on the lees for 12 months with regular stirring, then ages for 18 months in new Allier and Bertrange French oak and a further 18 months in bottle before release. Bottled without treatment or filtration.

Appearance – opaque deep ruby.

Aroma – intense black fruit and cassis, layered with leather, cocoa and spices.

Palate – full-bodied and creamy, with ripe, well-integrated tannins, excellent balance and a long finish.

Food pairing – juicy red meats, barbecue with spicy sauces and slow-cooked meat dishes with chestnuts or plums.

Serving temperature – 16–18 °C.
